June 21st 2019 is the Summer Solstice of this year. In this day, the sun is going to reach at its peak position in the sky in the day time. It happens twice a year. One during summer and another during winter.

What is Summer Solstice?

Summer solstice is a day in which the sun reaches at peak position in the sky during noon. This day, the day is usually longer than any other day.

Why do Summer Solstice occur?

Summer Solstice because Earth's tilt towards the Sun is at its maximum and the Sun reaches its highest position in the sky. It marks end of spring and beginning of summer in the hemisphere. On the summer solstice, Earth's maximum axial tilt toward the Sun is 23.44°. Likewise, the Sun's declination from the celestial equator is 23.44°.

This day is celebrated in terms of festivals and rituals in many cultures through out the globe. In Europe, it indicates middle of summer. In some other part of the globe, it indicates beginning of summer. In Goa, Maharashtra and Gujarat coastal regions, there is monsoon during this time. 

In this day, the day is 16 hours and 38 minutes long.
